Part of the Solution
I have a local meetup that I host called Manifesting Wealth: Implementing the Law of Attraction. Tonight’s topic is “How to Stay Positive in Challenging Times.”
So, since I have to run the meeting and in theory contribute something to the discussion, I have been thinking about this a bit. It’s a timely topic - the economy is certainly not thriving: jobs being lost, real estate and stock prices are getting hammered, the overall mood of our country is somber.
I think the latter is an improvement from ‘fearful’ which is where we were about 2-3 weeks ago. Obama’s decisive victory was one of the first positive feelings I got from watching the news in months.
I think everyone could improve their own perspective AND the reality that comes with it If we focus our intention on being a part of the solution, in whatever form that takes, and not promoting the fear and uncertainty that comes with the kind of dynamic we are going through right now. When you are looking for a solution, you are feeling positive emotion— but when you are looking at a problem, you are feeling negative emotion.
No matter how you “implement” this perspective, whether it is a cheerful attitude of gratitude for the health and well being you have, being helpful and generous with your time in assisting others or any other kind of ‘part of the solution’ behavior, your quality of life cannot help but improve.
Keep your consciousness in a higher vibrational state - be a part of the solution.

Simplicity
Wouldn’t it be great if you could write about ’simplicity’ and all you had to say was the word itself and people would ‘get’ it?
OK … likely not that easy. I am reading The Perfect Thing: How the iPod Shuffles Commerce, Culture and Coolness, by Steven Levy. I love Levy’s writing, in part because I am technology geek at heart (at least part of me is) and his writing combines technology with social aspect of the time(s) along with plenty of smart insider jabs and commentary that keep things rolling (his book Hackers should be read by anyone who uses a computer). Enough about Levy.
There is a quote in the book from Steve Jobs who, as you might guess, figures prominently in any [Read more...]

Your Inner Expert at College
I did a free program for a local community college the other day. It was the “general” talk that I give on Why Choose a Major, Choose a Life with some modifications I am seeing a need for based on the chaos in the economy.
My platform to date has been:
- Understand the Rules
- Understand Yourself
- Understand what you want
- Understand what to do - apply Your Inner Expert to owning your own business or investing
At the end of the day, it’s about creating value and building wealth. That is where the business owner and investor part comes in as a part of the applications noted in Number 4. However, with the recession we are now in (tell me this is not news to you … please!), I have added a couple of elements to the program (I pretty much did it in real time during my presentation the other day … kinda scary). Quality of Life Daily Nov 11 08
The purpose of this blog in the broader context is to augment my primary website (www.MarkRafter.com) as a place people can come to learn more about my philosophy of wealth, developing their own Inner Expert, personal mastery and find other resources (websites, articles, products, insight and perspective) about increasing their quality of life.
To that end, there are tons of other people out in cyberspace (do people still use that term?) blogging about similar topics. I check out lots of other sites on a nearly daily basis and am going to start doing a nearly daily entry here to provide my readers with links to those blog postings and authors that I think are worth reading. I’ll weed out the crap and blatant product-selling copy so you can sample the writers that I feel are offering the most value. As an expert in the area of identifying and monetizing individuals’ expertise, I don’t [Read more...]
